One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the sheer talent, creativity and skill that some designers have. Whether it’s a beautifully crafted logo, an expertly designed poster or a bold, attention grabbing landing page, some designers seem to really excel. But what I also like is when you explore some of the more unusual forms of design (like our post on hidden street art) where you can find artists and designers who are making their talent work in mediums that you wouldn’t ordinarily expect. One such medium is that of papercraft – the act of creating something out of paper. It’s different to origami, because it’s not just one folded piece of paper – it can be many different pieces of card or paper, cut however you want in any range of colours. It’s much less limited – you’re free to customise as much of it as you want – and, when it’s done well, it can produce absolutely astounding works of art.
With all that said, I wanted to showcase some of my favourite papercraft examples that I’ve found – these are all, in my mind, absolutely incredible pieces of art. Creative, ingenious and fantastic – I hope you find them equally as exciting and that it gets you thinking about experimenting with different mediums.
Which of these designs is your favourite? Do you know of any other amazing examples of papercraft that you’d like to share? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below.
