We love fonts. From big, fat chunky fonts to skinny, barely-there fonts. From typefaces that are stuffed with serifs and look elegant and timeless, to their clean, minimalist sans-serif equivalents. In print (and on the web), it’s not just the words that we say that make an impact – it’s how they’re presented.
Fortunately for us, there are tons of really interesting, creative and well-designed typefaces out there, and while many are paid for, there’s also a huge amount of free versions that have been released purely for the love of the craft (and a great place to find more is over at Google Web Fonts).
This post aims to bring together some of my favourite fonts that are all available for free for personal projects – many are also available to be used freely for commercial projects, but please do check the license agreements for each font before using them, just to be sure. Hopefully you’ll be able to give some of these typefaces a good home, and if you do create something with them, we’d love to see. In the meantime, I hope you find this roundup of free fonts for designers useful, and a huge thanks to the designers who have chosen to release these for free.

Have you used any of the above free fonts to make something that you’d like to share? Or do you know of any other typefaces that you think we should have included? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below.
